Last week in Las Vegas, the NHL had former players and teammates Igor Larionov and Vladimir Konstantinov announce the winner of the Lester B. Pearson award. Konstantinov who was injured in a limousine accident in 1997 days after lifting the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings announced Alexander Ovechkin’s name as the young star collected 3 trophies that night.
With the help of a walker, Konstantionov was able to stand up and move slowly showing the willpower he showed during his career. If I were the NHL I would have included Sergei Fedorov since all three played in Detroit at the same time.
