Last night, one of Russia’s youngest exports shined bright yet again as the Blues’ Vladamir Tarasenko scored his 10th goal of the year. Like many games already, the 22-year-old had a game with multiple points when he notched his 19th helper. However the true highlight of the night came when the winger took exception to a hit by Eric Nystrom and decided to drop the gloves.
Tarasenko launched himself into a scrum behind the Predators net where he squared up with Ryan Ellis to earn his first NHL Gordie Howe hat trick. While the fight wasn’t as memorable as countrymen past he became just the third Russian to record a GHHT in an NHL contest.
Fighting aside, Tarasenko is now tied for third place overall in both goals and points and will hopefully continue disproving the theory that Russian players are soft.
Below you’ll find both the goal and the scrum.
